MCP‑YouTube is a drop-in Model Context Protocol server that wraps yt-dlp, providing a simple JSON API to download videos, playlists, audio, subtitles and thumbnails. It is fully async, streams rich progress logs (speed, ETA, errors) back to the caller, and works with any MCP client (CLI, VS Code Cursor, Claude Desktop, HTTP fetchers, ChatGPT plug-ins, etc.). Outputs are organized into type-specific downloads/ folders with configurable naming templates and supports quality/format selection and subtitle embedding.
