Description

This project is an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server built with mcp-framework to enable programmatic, AI-driven interactions with YNAB (You Need A Budget). It exposes tools for listing budgets, summarizing category/account status, retrieving and approving unapproved transactions, and creating new transactions. The server uses a YNAB personal access token stored in an environment variable (never sent to the LLM) and can be integrated with clients like Claude Desktop for conversational budget management. Typical workflows include first-time budget selection, handling overspent categories, adding and approving transactions, and auto-distribution of ready-to-assign funds.
