Description

Wren Engine is an open-source semantic layer and MCP server that enables AI agents to understand data models, translate intents into semantic SQL, and retrieve trustworthy business metrics across warehouses and files. It supports many data sources (Postgres, MySQL, Snowflake, BigQuery, S3, GCS, etc.) and is designed to be embeddable into MCP clients and agent workflows. The project emphasizes governance, business-term definitions, and role-based access to ensure correct calculations and secure access. The repository is maintained by Canner and currently in beta with active development.
