An MCP server that exposes National Weather Service alerts and forecasts (plus system tools) to MCP clients like Claude.
Retrieve up-to-date weather alerts for a U.S. state (e.g., "current alerts in CA") to inform decision-making or notifications.
Fetch localized forecasts by geographic coordinates (latitude/longitude) to provide location-specific weather guidance.
Inspect or execute safe system-level operations (list top processes, run simple shell commands) when operating within a hosted or developer environment.
This project implements a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that fetches weather alerts and forecasts from the National Weather Service API and exposes them as callable tools. It also provides system utilities (shell command execution and process info) and integrates with MCP clients such as Claude Desktop. The server includes developer conveniences like an MCP Inspector, make targets for common workflows, and an extensible modular code structure for adding new tools and resources. It's designed to be easy to run locally for development and testing.
