An MCP server that lets chat agents (e.g., Claude) run shell commands, read/edit files, build and run code, and manage project workflows on your local machine.
Run, build, and iteratively debug code inside a local project workspace using real shell commands.
Safely read and edit repository files with protections (read-before-edit, syntax checks, chunked large-file edits) and controlled edit scopes.
Checkpoint and resume complex tasks or transfer project context to another chat by saving comprehensive context bundles.
wcgw is an MCP server that tightly integrates shell and code-editing tools so conversational agents can create, execute, iterate, and debug code on a local workspace. It offers interactive command handling (including background processes and multiplexed terminals), file protections and syntax checking on edits, and modes (architect, code-writer, wcgw) to control agent permissions. The server supports saving and resuming task checkpoints for knowledge transfer, optional local use with OpenAI/Anthropic keys, and deployment via uv/uvx or Docker.
