An MCP server that exposes a tool for running SQL/PostGIS queries against a PostgreSQL database (with example Univalle geodata) for use with Claude/Claude Desktop agents.
Execute arbitrary SQL queries against a PostGIS-enabled PostgreSQL database to retrieve or compute geospatial results.
Perform spatial operations (e.g., transform CRS, compute lengths or distances, find nearest features) on campus geodata such as buildings, rivers, and points of interest.
Integrate with Claude/Claude Desktop via an MCP server to run database-backed geospatial analyses and return results to conversational workflows.
This repository provides an example MCP (Model-Connector-Plugin) server that lets Claude Desktop run SQL queries on a PostgreSQL database with the PostGIS extension. It includes setup instructions, example SQL data loads for Univalle geospatial tables, and sample Claude Desktop configuration to register the MCP server. The tool supports spatial operations like coordinate transforms, length/distance calculations, and nearest-feature queries, enabling agents to query and analyze geospatial data programmatically.
