OpenMCP is an open-source standard and registry for converting web APIs into MCP servers, allowing LLM-based clients to access web APIs in a token-efficient, standardized way.
Access and call a wide variety of third-party web APIs through a common, token-efficient MCP interface.
Be configured with local or remote MCP servers (e.g., Claude desktop, Cursor) to enable tool access without exposing raw API details.
Convert existing API specifications (OpenAPI, gRPC, GraphQL, JSON-RPC, SOAP, PostgREST) into MCP servers for standardized agent consumption.
OpenMCP provides both a specification for translating web APIs (REST/OpenAPI, gRPC, GraphQL, JSON-RPC, SOAP, PostgREST, etc.) into MCP servers and a registry of servers that implement that standard. It includes guidance and tooling for hosting servers remotely or locally and for adding servers to MCP-capable clients (examples: Claude desktop, Cursor). The project is intended to let agent-style LLMs fetch data and perform actions across many services with reduced token usage and consistent interfaces.
