An MCP server that lets MCP-compatible LLMs interact with an Obsidian vault via the Local REST API.
Read and summarize the latest or specific notes in an Obsidian vault (e.g., meeting notes, architecture docs).
Search the vault with Dataview or plain-text queries and return contextual excerpts or structured rows.
Create, update, or delete notes and execute Obsidian commands programmatically (e.g., generate summaries, append meeting minutes, or manage periodic notes).
This TypeScript + Bun MCP server provides a rich set of tools for reading, searching, creating, editing, and deleting notes in an Obsidian vault by talking to the Obsidian Local REST API plugin. It exposes high-level operations (active note manipulation, file CRUD, periodic notes, Dataview/JsonLogic queries, command execution, and searches) so agents can reason about and modify vault content programmatically. It is intended to be run alongside Claude (or any MCP-compatible LLM) and can be configured via environment variables or an .env file. The project is MIT-licensed and designed for local/self-hosted use.
