Description

This project implements an MCP-compatible backend that retrieves and summarizes news from sources like BBC, TechCrunch, Ars Technica, and IPLT20, exposing commands to fetch articles, manage bookmarks, and read user preferences. It uses async fetching (httpx, asyncio) and BeautifulSoup for scraping, and is designed to be run alongside Claude Desktop as the client with MCP running in VS Code. The server is lightweight and intended for development and integration with agents and tools that need up-to-date news context. It stores articles in memory by default and outlines future improvements such as persistent storage and improved summarization.
