A local MCP server that lets LLM-powered agents interact with MongoDB using natural language to run queries, aggregations, manage schema and indexes, and perform administrative tasks.
Run MongoDB queries and aggregations via natural language without writing raw driver code.
Analyze collection schemas, generate JSON Schema validators, and receive index or performance recommendations.
Perform administrative tasks (create/drop databases/collections, manage users, run transactions) with configurable confirmation and safety controls.
MongoDB Lens is an open-source Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that provides rich, tool-based access to MongoDB instances via natural language through LLM clients. It exposes many tools, resources, and prompts for querying, aggregation-building, schema inference, index recommendations, performance analysis, and administrative operations. The server includes safety features like configurable confirmation tokens for destructive actions, config-file and environment overrides, caching, and multiple installation options (NPX, Docker, from source). It is designed for local use and integrates with MCP clients such as Claude Desktop and MCP Inspector.
