Melrōse is a tool and language for programming music melodies using a custom language to compose notes, loops, and tracks that are played via MIDI. The melrose-mcp server uses the Model Context Protocol (MCP) to receive expressions to play, enabling dynamic and live music performance. It integrates well with a Visual Studio Code plugin for real-time audible feedback and supports live changes to note sequences during playback.
