An MCP server that exposes structured project documentation (.context) so AI coding agents can understand a codebase's architecture, history, and design decisions before starting tasks.
Read and ingest a project's organized documentation (index.md, docs/, diagrams/) before performing code changes or reviews.
Retrieve and display architectural diagrams and contextual notes to make informed design or refactoring suggestions.
Validate and lint project context structure to ensure documentation completeness and consistency before automated tasks.
dotcontext implements the Model Context Protocol (MCP) to standardize and serve project-level documentation, diagrams, and metadata from a .context directory. It provides CLI tools to initialize, validate, and list context resources, and integrates with AI assistants so they can request and consume structured project context. The project emphasizes architecture diagrams, documentation organization, and continuous updates to keep AI tooling informed of project evolution. It's implemented in TypeScript and distributed with an MIT license and accompanying developer tooling.
