A tool that enables AI assistants to query, read, and move DICOM data (patients, studies, series, instances) between PACS/VNA and AI endpoints.
Search and filter patients, studies, series, and instances on a DICOM server to gather relevant imaging metadata.
Retrieve encapsulated PDF clinical reports from DICOM instances and extract readable text for downstream summarization or analysis.
Send imaging series or studies to remote DICOM nodes (e.g., AI segmentation/classification endpoints) and integrate returned results into a workflow.
DICOM MCP Server provides a set of MCP tools to search DICOM metadata, extract text from encapsulated PDF reports, and transfer series or studies to other DICOM nodes (e.g., AI segmentation endpoints). It includes utilities for managing DICOM node configurations, verifying connections (C-ECHO), and switching active nodes, and integrates with MCP-based agent workflows. The project is open-source, designed for local or development use (not for clinical deployment), and builds on pynetdicom and PyPDF2 for network and PDF handling.
