An MCP server that returns the current date and time formatted in many common, locale-aware, and filename-friendly formats for use with Claude Desktop.
Insert or display the current date/time in a specific format (ISO, compact, Japanese, etc.) when composing messages or documents.
Deterministic, filename-safe timestamps to name files like logs, markdown notes, or exported data.
Localized or timezone-aware time strings (including Japanese formats and ISO offsets) for logging, scheduling, or display purposes.
mcp-datetime is a small MCP server that formats the current date and time into a variety of human-readable, ISO, compact, and Japanese formats. It handles timezones and offers filename-optimized formats (e.g., .md, .txt, .log) and log-style timestamps with microseconds. The project is intended for integration with the Claude Desktop App via the MCP protocol and is easy to run with uv/uvx or python -m. It is open-source and has been tested on macOS.
