A lightweight MCP server that lets MCP-aware AI assistants execute AWS CLI commands and retrieve AWS CLI documentation safely and consistently.
Run AWS CLI commands on behalf of a user to inspect or manage AWS resources while returning results formatted for AI consumption.
Up-to-date AWS CLI documentation and help text (service/command level) to generate accurate instructions or suggest commands.
Filter and transform AWS CLI output using Unix pipes and pre-built prompt templates for common tasks like security audits, inventorying, or provisioning.
The AWS MCP Server bridges MCP-capable AI assistants (e.g., Claude Desktop, Cursor) to the AWS CLI, enabling agents to request help text, run AWS commands (including Unix pipes), and receive AI-friendly formatted results. It is designed for deployment in Docker (recommended) or natively, and includes prompt templates, resource/context exposure (profiles, regions, account info), and execution controls like timeouts and output limits. The server implements multi-layered security validation (command filtering, pipe allowlists, and customizable YAML rules) and stresses IAM least-privilege and container isolation to mitigate risks. Overall, it streamlines automation and interactive AWS operations for trusted agents while providing configuration and extensibility for custom security policies.
